In an effort to support Ghana's garment manufacturing industry, Deutsche Gesellschaft Fern International Jusamenarbitt (GIZ) GmbH, with its partners - Ethical Apparel Africa (EAA), Gerbar, Groz Beckert, Freudenberg and Etranek Center, Accra.
The launch forms part of a public-private partnership between the German federal government and the Ghanaian private sector.
Funded by the German federal government, the initiative is part of the GIZ-implemented development PPP program.
The main goal is to strengthen export-oriented small and medium-sized garments to create socially responsible jobs.
The GIZ DevelopmentPDD program will work in close collaboration with ATC to support efficiency measures by providing appropriate training and services to current and future potential factory workers.
Christian Olnick, Team Lead of the DebilPPPP program, said: "The goal is to train 500 people in various fields by mid-2022 and provide more technical services to small and medium-sized garment manufacturers.
Ultimately, it will stimulate the growth of the entire industry and contribute to the creation of 1,200 new jobs in the garment factory. "
Mr Olnick added, "This project is much more than just training a certain number of people. Together with the college, we will build a sustainable structure in the training center that will help tap into the huge potential of the Ghanian garment industry in the coming years."
Karen Pybus, co-founder of Ethical Apparel Africa, said: "The demand for ready-made garments in Ghana is growing due to the fast shipping time and competitive costs from ANGA, the United States and Europe. Need to increase.
